WE DESPERATELY NEED COURAGEOUS AND PRINCIPLED MEN AND WOMAN IN THIS NATION WHO WILL STAND UP AND BE COUNTED - WHO WILL STAND AGAINST THE PRESSURES OF THE THINGS AROUND THEM AND EMERGE ON TOP IN THE END. “Congress may be America’s only ‘distinct criminal class’”
FROM: http://www.ontheissues.org/AskMe/spousal_abuse.htm
A viewer asked this question on 1/11/2000:
Dear XpertSite.com,
I have been forwarded an email that gives a few statistics on the United States Congress Members.
For example, it states the following:
29 have been accused of spousal abuse,
7 have been arrested for fraud,
19 have been accused of writing bad checks,
117 have bankrupted at least two businesses,
3 have been arrested for assault, etc.
This list is longer than the above. I would like to know if this information is true. If it is true, I would like to know what are the sources for these statistics.

And the cost of crime continues to mount: $78 billion for the criminal justice system, $64 billion for private protection, $202 billion in loss of life and work, $120 billion in crimes against business, $60 billion in stolen goods and fraud, $40 billion from drug abuse, and $110 billion from drunk driving. When you add up all the costs, crime costs Americans a stunning $675 billion each year. Read more

Americans sick of America
According to a recent Gallup Poll, only 19% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are here in the U.S of A. For those of you that can’t do math like me, that says 81% of Americans don’t like it here. Now I don’t know about you, but I think that it is pretty pathetic that in a country where we have a say on what goes on in government we can be so displeased with what happens. Don’t Americans know that they can change things instead of just complain?
