The problem with Americans is that they love to complain a lot, but they don't really care enough to do something about it. So we complain and we make jokes about our government because we don't care enough to fix it. Jefferson writes in the Declaration of Independence that we are more inclined to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to fix the situation. If we cared enough to be informed we might realize that the evils have reached the insufferable. People feel disconnected from the government, like it should just manage itself. People would rather just complain or joke rather than actually accept responsibilty, get off their complaining butts and do something.
